A Calm Escape to Nature From Muscat
I boarded one of the Muscat trips routes which run between Muscat and Wadi Shab to the Bimmah Sinkhole, hoping that it was going to be a simple day of sightseeing. Instead, it was the feeling of an easy getaway; the type of refreshments that lighten your head once back in the city.
The drive consisted of the magic. On our way through the route from Muscat Wadi Shab and Bimmah sinkhole tours, the landscape was slowly changing and the roads of the open desert were replaced by patches of grass with the support of the strong mountainous views. I was beginning to relax even before I reached the Wadi.
The ascending at Wadi Shab was hot but tolerable. It is not a smooth walk to the mountain, but the sights are worth the hike. We were running towards the main pool, but before we reached it, we heard a running of water, almost calling us, as though we were being called by nature.
Coming to the turquoise pools was a relief from entering cool shade after hours in the sun. The water was cool and fresh and very clear. It was the most pleasant part of the sailing in between the cliffs: each turn presented a fresh shade of blue, a fresh silence, a fresh view.
Then we abandoned the wadi and proceeded to the Bimmah Sinkhole. The sinkhole appeared to be open and broad, as compared to the canyon horizontally. The sun-rays were leaping across the water and causing it to sparkle. Some went straight up to big jumps, and I did slow swimming and long floating and that was the most pleasant way of enjoying it.
What was interesting was the simplicity of the day. No hurry or thinking, nature was going on and we were having fun. This is a simple and peaceful reset for any visitor or resident of Muscat. I would highly recommend!
