SNORKELING THE DAYMANIYAT ISLANDS: MY MOST PEACEFUL MORNING IN OMAN

I've had the most exciting mornings in Oman, but nothing made me understand how snorkeling in Daymaniyat Islands could bring out the best experience during the first visit. The day kicked off quietly with still air, soft waves and a calm sky spreading evenly over the sky of Oman. I could feel that I was stepping on a slower softer version of life as I was boarding the boat.

The boat riding into the island felt as if it was a gentle escape from the land. The waves shimmered below the sun as the coastline slowly went out of sight behind us, and everyone of us seemed to be excited by the unfolding events. We had a briefing on the rules, all about the marine reserves and all other expectations at the course of our snorkeling trip in Oman. We felt confident and ready to proceed as we were well informed about everything ahead of us.

Everything was silent as I slipped into the cold waters. Everything within the depth of the waters was visible. The sun rays made everything including the fish and corals inside the water to glow in different colours. The experience when going through the waters was like a dream. My first encounter with a turtle came just minutes after the dive. That single encounter was worth the whole trip.

Every direction of our tour revealed a completely different exploration with every sea creature looking more than real. At this point, I started asking myself why snorkeling in Oman is so popular for its unmatched beauty. The breeze was cool and the only sound we could hear was that of the slow moving waves. I just had to enjoy every scene as it was only myself, the clear water and a rhythmic sound of my breath through the mask.

Finally, when we were going back into our boat, it was sunset, there was a gentle breeze giving everyone of us a nice smile with contentment, this experience only comes when you have the purest experience.  As we went back to Muscat, I came to know why the Daymaniyat Islands are considered one of the best tourist destinations. This wasn't just an ordinary activity but a great reminder and a reset on how simplicity can be.
