Adventure and Connection

Most of the stories about the Wadi Shab and Bimmah sinkhole group full-day tour have been heard, but nothing made me ready for how refreshing and wholesome this day would be. It began in the early morning when we all met at the pickup point in Muscat. I always enjoy group trips since there will always be a combination of personalities, some quiet, others excited and others taking selfies even before the bus has moved. Such energy alone gives a fun start to the day.

The tour ran on a smooth drive, through little towns, precipices and open seashores. I was next to a German tourist and we discussed various Muscat adventures and how Oman has this unbelievable mixture of roughness and serenity. We eventually got to Wadi Shab, and it was already getting warm on the rocks and everything was golden.

Walking up in the canyon was like a stroll through a painting. The winding paths, high rock walls and pools of shade seemed to be temporary retreats. Each time we came to a beautiful view, the whole group stopped simply to admire the contrast of the yellow cliffs and the turquoise pools in front. The best thing about the whole journey was to swim in the Wadi. It is among those places that make you forget about the time altogether.

The group energy continued to be high later on at Bimmah Sinkhole. Others sailed calmly, and some just jumped into the water, screaming and using all their energy. The bowl-shaped, deep hole appearance of the sinkhole seemed so unnatural, almost artificial. It was fascinating how nature had created a sinkhole that served as an attraction to the travellers.

Towards the end of the day, we were all one little cosy family; tired, sun-kissed and happy. In case you love interacting with new people, visiting nature at your own leisure, this group experience will be so good. It is the type of adventure that makes the experience memorable, not only due to the place but also due to the company.
