Snorkeling in Daymaniyat Islands

I have done a lot of snorkeling around Oman, yet the Daymaniyat snorkeling tour is my favorite. I felt something special about those islands. It may be the untouched aura, the look of the water, or the fact that every visit I made was a new experience.

We were out of Muscat very early in the morning, just as the sun was getting up. The boat ride was a fresh air ride, cool wind and open sea without any form of boundaries. The Daymaniyat Islands appeared in view, too good to believe. It is not surprising that it is among the best snorkeling places in Oman.

By the time we anchored in the marine reserve, everybody was itching to dive. The water was out of this world! Within some seconds, I was able to spot fish circling the boat. I was disappointed that I didn’t even have my fins on!

The sea was like a gift to us, underwater. Great schools of fish moved in waves over the reef. Turtles simply sailed past, in complete indifference. To every corner of the reef, there was life and lines of colour everywhere.

The calmness was what amazed me. Although we were pumped, the vibe underwater was cold and calm. It is only you, your breath and the beautiful view. That is the Daymaniyat charisma; it makes you slow down, without even realising it.

The crew took us into the water and gave us plenty of time to explore, yet we ended up checking out only two spots before returning. Every location had its own character, its own sea life and its own surprises.

By the time we reached Muscat, we felt that we had been on a mini vacation within just one morning. This tour is the best combination if you are seeking adventure, a chilling atmosphere, and raw nature.
