Since the water isn't deep in most places, it is easier to observe every detail without going deep into the ocean, especially with all the lively Oman marine life.
One of the most surprising things I encountered was the number of snorkelling activities in Oman that majored specifically in the Daymaniyat Islands. It doesn't matter whether you are an expert or a first timer; there is a space here that accommodates everyone's preference.
