How Octopus Oman collects, uses and protects your personal information when you visit our website or book a tour with us.

In short

We only collect what we need to arrange your tour: your name, email, WhatsApp or phone number, pickup address and booking details.
Card payments are handled securely by our payment provider, Paymob. We never see or store your full card number.
We share your details only with the people and services needed to run your tour and our website. We never sell your data.
You can ask us at any time to see, correct or delete your information.

1. Who we are

This website is run by Octopus Oman, a tour operator based at Marsa 2, Muscat 130, Sultanate of Oman. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Octopus Oman.

2. Information we collect

When you book a tour, we collect your first and last name, email address, WhatsApp or phone number, hotel or pickup address (if you give one), and your booking details: the tours, dates, number of guests and total price.

When you contact us by WhatsApp, phone or email, we keep the messages and the details you share, so we can answer you and arrange your trip.

When you pay, your card details go directly to our payment provider, Paymob, on its secure payment page. We receive only the payment result (for example paid, declined or not completed), a transaction reference and the amount.

When you browse our website, we and our analytics providers automatically collect technical information such as your IP address, device and browser type, the pages you visit and how you use them. See section 4 for details.

3. How we use your information

To confirm and manage your booking, arrange your pickup and run your tour.
To contact you about your booking, for example to confirm the date, share pickup details or help if a payment did not go through.
To answer your questions and give customer support.
To keep records of bookings and payments for accounting and legal reasons.
To understand how visitors use our website so we can improve it, and to measure how well our advertising works.

We will not send you marketing messages unless you have asked us to or agreed to it.

4. Cookies and analytics

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies. Some are needed for the site to work. Others help us understand and improve the site:

Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics: show us which pages are visited and how people find our site.
Microsoft Clarity: helps us see how pages are used (for example clicks and scrolling) so we can fix problems.
Meta Pixel: helps us measure the results of our ads on Facebook and Instagram.
Google Translate (through the language switcher) and our Google reviews widget, which load content from Google.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some parts of the website may not work properly without them.

5. Who we share your information with

We share your information only when it is needed:

Tour guides, boat crews and local partners who run your tour, with only the details they need (for example your name, number of guests and pickup point).
Paymob, to process your payment securely.
Service providers who help us run our business, such as website hosting, email delivery, WhatsApp, and the analytics tools listed above.
Authorities, if the law requires us to.

We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone.

6. Information stored outside Oman

Some of our service providers (for example hosting, email and analytics services) may store or process information on servers outside the Sultanate of Oman. When this happens, we use reputable providers that protect your information.

7. How long we keep your information

We keep booking records for as long as we need them to provide your tour, handle any questions or refunds, and meet our accounting and legal obligations. Messages are kept for as long as they are useful for customer support. Analytics data is kept according to each provider’s own settings.

8. Your rights

Under applicable law, including Oman’s Personal Data Protection Law, you can ask us to:

tell you what personal information we hold about you and give you a copy;
correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
delete your information, unless we must keep it for legal or accounting reasons;
stop using your information for marketing.

To make a request, email info@octopus-oman.com. We may need to confirm your identity before we act on it.

9. How we protect your information

Our website uses a secure, encrypted connection (HTTPS). Card payments are processed on Paymob’s secure payment page, and only authorised staff can see booking details. No website is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

10. Children

Bookings must be made by an adult. If a booking includes children, we only use the details that their parent or guardian gives us to arrange the tour.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top.
